Earthquakes at Pangalengan, West Java
On 2nd of September 2009, an earthquake with magnitude 7.3 on the Ritcher Scale hit Tasikmalaya, Java. The hardest hit area was at Pangalengan, where two villages were totally destroyed (Sukamanah Village – RW 1, RW 09 and Margamukti village – RW 09, RW 10).
On 3rd September 2009, under the coordination of Mr. Harry Tampi (General Manager Noodle – Bandung) and in conjunction with local newspaper Pikiran Rakyat, Indofood set up Indofood Disaster Relief Stations at these two villages. More than 4,915 serving of noodles were served to the earthquake victims for next seven days (between 3rd – 9th of September 2009)
Besides Pangalengan, Indofood also set up the Disaster Relief Station at Cilelet - Pamengpeuk, Garut and East Saketa village – Darma, Kuningan.

Earthquakes at West Sumatra and Jambi 30 September 2009
On 30 September, a magnitude 7.6 Ritcher Scale earthquake hit Padang, West Sumatera, followed by an earthquake of magnitude 7.0 Ritcher Scale in Kerinci, Jambi on 1 October 2009.
When disaster strikes, time is of the essence. With this mindset, Indofood opened three Disaster Relief Stations on the second day of the disaster. In the following days, a total of seven stations were set up in Padang. The locations of the seven stations were at the Padang Cathedral, M. Djamil Hospital, Sicincin, Bungus Teluk Kabung, Pariaman, Mata air and Malalak Kabupaten Agam. Another three stations were set up in Jambi at Lolo Gedang, Talang Kemuning and Pasar Kerman. A total of 40,000 servings of instant noodles were served in the seven days of operation (2nd – 8th October 2009)
Mr. Paulus Sutikno (Head of Noodle Branch – Pekanbaru) heads the relief operations at Padang and the surrounding areas, while Mr. David Untung (Head of Noodle Branch – Jambi) head the relief operations at Jambi
Scores of Indofood employees at Pekanbaru and Jambi also acted as volunteers at the Disaster Relief Stations. Day and night, these volunteers served the refugees ready-to-eat instant noodle and SUN–MPASI (porridge for babies) free of charge. In addition, Indofood also donated milk and SUN-MPASI infant porridge.
