SUN Continues Gerakan Lahap Makan Education in 2026

- Partners with Hundreds of Posyandu Cadres to Support Nutrition for Indonesian Children –

Jakarta, 30 January 2026 — Entering 2026, SUN, a complementary food brand for breastfed infants (MPASI) from PT Indofood CBP Sukses Makmur Tbk (ICBP), continues its commitment to supporting the nutritional fulfillment of Indonesian children through the SUN Gerakan Lahap Makan, an educational initiative that has been implemented since 2025.The program commenced in Malang and Bogor as the opening series of activities for 2026, before expanding to approximately one hundred cities and regencies across Indonesia. Through the SUN Gerakan Lahap Makan, mothers receive direct education from pediatricians, supported by PKK cadre mothers who serve as SUN Lahap Makan Ambassadors.

The SUN Gerakan Lahap Makan initiative serves as an educational movement that has inspired more than 90,000 mothers and Posyandu cadres, providing practical guidance on appropriate child feeding practices. This includes emphasizing the importance of offering diverse and nutritious MPASI menus to help reduce the risk of Gerakan Tutup Mulut (GTM), a condition in which children refuse to eat.

Etyk Hartuti, Manager of Indofood Nutrition and Special Foods Division, PT Indofood CBP Sukses Makmur Tbk, stated: “Gerakan Tutup Mulut, commonly known as GTM, is a condition that frequently occurs and may recur at different stages of a child’s growth and development. Through the SUN Gerakan Lahap Makan, we aim to be a trusted companion for mothers, providing a space to learn together, share experiences, and find practical solutions that can be applied to support their children’s nutritional needs.”

This was further emphasized by dr. Centaura Naila Alfin Camielle, Sp.A, M.Biomed, during the SUN Gerakan Lahap Makan event in Malang (14/01), who explained that GTM should not be underestimated as it can directly affect a child’s nutritional intake, particularly during critical early growth stages. “Children’s nutritional needs are very high, while an infant’s stomach capacity is still limited. To meet daily iron requirements alone, a baby would need an intake equivalent to approximately 11 pieces of chicken meat. This is where the role of parents becomes crucial in preparing nutrient-dense foods while ensuring children are willing to eat, so nutrients can be optimally absorbed,” explained dr. Centa.

SUN introduced the 3 SUN Enthusiastic Eating Methods, which include (1) Feeding children when they are hungry and not sleepy, (2) Providing variations in taste and texture according to age, and (3) Applying appropriate feeding techniques. One tangible application of these methods is encouraging mothers to continuously develop creativity in preparing more diverse MPASI menus, making mealtime a pleasant experience for children.

The Importance of Mothers’ Creativity in Preparing MPASI with Safe Seasonings and Spices
As part of the SUN Gerakan Lahap Makan education, SUN encourages mothers to creatively introduce Indonesian flavors through the use of safe seasonings and spices from an early age. “We encourage mothers not to hesitate in introducing MPASI with Indonesian flavors early on. Ingredients such as shallots and garlic provide natural savory tastes, while kaffir lime leaves add a refreshing aroma. Of course, these should be used in appropriate portions and prepared in ways suitable for infants,” said Etyk.

In line with this, dr. Ayuca Zarry, Sp.A explained that children tend to eat more enthusiastically when offered menus with appealing variations in taste and aroma. “MPASI that is attractively prepared can create a positive eating experience for children, making it easier for their nutritional needs to be met,” said dr. Ayuca during the SUN Gerakan Lahap Makan event in Bogor (20/01).

Beyond presentation, the use of seasonings and spices was also highlighted. According to dr. Ayuca, spices can be safely introduced from an early age as long as they are properly managed. With bolder aromas, children are expected to become more enthusiastic about eating, thereby supporting optimal nutritional fulfillment.

Hj. Aas Kusdianawati, SUN Lahap Makan Ambassador representative from Bogor, demonstrated this approach through a live cooking demonstration of a locally inspired MPASI menu, Bubur Ayam Spesial ala SUN, creatively prepared with seasonings and spices to encourage children to eat more eagerly. She also reminded mothers to continue paying attention to the completeness of MPASI nutrition. “Do not forget to combine easily accessible local ingredients such as taro, spinach, and chicken with SUN products, so that MPASI becomes more delicious and nutritious,” she emphasized.

SUN’s Ongoing Commitment to Supporting Indonesian Mothers
As a baby porridge brand trusted by Indonesian mothers for more than 30 years, SUN continues to deliver product innovations to help babies eat more enthusiastically. SUN Cinta Rasa Indonesia, inspired by authentic Indonesian flavors such as Liwet Ayam Kampung, Soto Ayam, and Opor Ayam, provides a practical MPASI solution amid time constraints and concerns over the use of seasonings and spices. SUN baby porridge is safe and nutritious, enriched with Esenutri, containing high levels of iron and omega 3 & 6 to support optimal child growth and development.

“Through collaboration with doctors, Posyandu cadres, and SUN Lahap Makan Ambassadors, we hope that more mothers will feel confident in preparing MPASI and helping their children eat more enthusiastically. This commitment will continue in 2026 by expanding the SUN Gerakan Lahap Makan to reach more mothers and families across Indonesia, in support of a healthy Indonesian generation toward Indonesia Emas,” Etyk concluded.

All SUN products are certified by BPOM and comply with The Codex Alimentarius Commission standards as an international reference for food safety. Free from preservatives and added flavorings, SUN provides peace of mind for mothers in delivering the best MPASI for their children.
