Managing Waste

The waste produced by the Group’s operations is managed in accordance with the prevailing laws and regulations. We conduct regular monitoring and measurement to ensure that our waste is properly managed.

Managing Waste Water
Our operating units are equipped with WWTP to ensure waste water discharged into waterways is within acceptable limits. In Agribusiness Group, POME,a by-product of the milling process, is treated onsite.

Managing Non-Hazardous Solid Waste
Solid waste, which is non-hazardous, is segregated based on the “3R” principles in order to be reduced, reused and recycled. In Agribusiness Group, organic by-products like empty fruit bunches (“EFB”) and palm kernel shells are reused for composting or biomass for boiler feedstock.

Managing Hazardous Waste
All hazardous waste is stored in licensed temporary storage areas prior to collection by licensed third parties for proper processing and disposal. Employees who are designated to handle the hazardous waste are provided with personal protection equipment and proper training in the handling of such waste.

Post-Consumer Packaging Waste
Indofood with several retail industry leaders formed the Packaging and Recycling Association for Indonesia Sustainable Environment (“PRAISE”). PRAISE aims to take proactive action in reducing the impact of packaging waste on the environment. It is an excellent platform for the sharing of best practices in packaging, regulatory updates and dialogue on waste management issues.
