Protecting the Environment

MERA is a collaborative effort between global and national companies, government agencies and NGOs to restore and protect the mangrove ecosystems in three areas: (1) Muara Angke, Kapuk, North Jakarta, (2) Muara Gembong, Bekasi, West Java and (3) Muara Cisadane, Banten.

The project was launched in 2018 by the Jakarta Natural Resources Conservation Agency and the environmental NGO, The Nature Conservancy, with the mangroves and coastal areas in Muara Angke being the top priority for restoration and conservation activities.

As of 2019, the Detailed Engineering Design for the MERA project has been approved and will serve as the blueprint for the construction of mangrove ecosystem infrastructure of the project.
